Ixtepete
Ixtepete is a zone with various ruins of pyramids at Zapopan in Guadalajara, Jalisco. This area will soon be converted into an archeological park to provide better access for travelers and visitors. It is located at the western Periferico and the Prolongación Mariano Otero. Besides one shaft tomb and about 20 other ruins, a huge amount of ceramics could be discovered and scientists say that the Ixtepete ceramics remain to the El Grillo phase, between 700 and 900 A.D. The architectural phase would be Teuchitlan II, 700 to 900 A.D. Ixtepete is not the only archeological site in Guadalajara, but until today the only one which is protected by federal laws. Several other sites are even more interesting, but still unprotected.
