The state of Mexico, often called Edomex, the short form of the spanish words Estado de Mexico, is located in the center of the Mexican territory and borders to the south to the states of Guerrero and Morelos, to the west to Michoacán, to the north to Querétaro and Hidalgo, to the east to the states Tlaxcala and Puebla. The state is formed like an U and includes inside its form the Distrito Federal, Mexico City. The states capital is the city Mexiquense, the largest city is Ecatepec. The state of Mexico is with 14 Million inhabitants the most populated state, this due to the circumstance, that Mexico City occupies a large part of the northern territories. The state is one of the Mexican states with the most industrial production, many of the world leading companies have production facilities in the state of Mexico. Besides manufacturing the tourism is a very important part for the states economy, as for example the famous pyramids of Teotihuacan and several mountains and volcans are very attractive for tourists.
