La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is the last major village to the north inside the Banderas Bay. Reachable within 20 minutes from the airport in Jalisco, just 5 minutes more than Bucerias and 10 minutes more than Nuevo Vallarta, so called La Cruz feature the third marina in the bay. Newly build, the marina caused a fast development of the village and the surrounding areas. The university in Puerto Vallarta testified to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and the La Manzanilla beach the best water quality in the bay. As there are no rivers nearby, the water is not contaminated during the rainy period between July and October. Close to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle a few luxury settlements and developments like Piedra Blanca or Real del Mar for example are located, and the coastal area to the north will be developed during the next years to provide more beach front lots to the investors. The village is worth a view, as its old authentic Mexican center is not affected by tourism, as most lots for vacation homes are located out of the old village. Some basic services are provided, including restaurants and a few shops, soon more infrastructure will be added.
