Located in Central Mexico, the state of Querétaro borders to the south to the states of Mexico and Michoacán, to the west to the state of Guanajuato, to the north to San Luis Potosí and to the west to the state of Hidalgo. Manufacturing together with commerce are most important for the states economy, tourism is becoming more and more important as the state features besides some archeological sites and ruins a well preserved colonial architecture to be enjoyed by travelers. Querétaro is subdivided in 18 municipalities and the capital is the city of Santiago de Querétaro. This city ( as well as the entire state of Querétaro ), has an interesting history beeing for a short time the capital of Mexico.
